For those staying in Johor, hope you are all in good hands. Wait out the floods. And don't try to be heroic.

Never in my life would I ever think of raising a hand against a woman, even more so when the woman is supposedly my spouse.
So when a Senator is the victim of abuse by her husband, I personally view it as despicable, chauvinistic and downright disgusting. I may not be an expert in marriage, but if calling your wife a prostitute is your reaction whenever you see her talking to someone else, you have issues.
The honorable senator has every right to deny any calls for reconciliation from a husband who steals from her and abuses her both physically and mentally for the past 23 years. Additionally, she should file suit against her soon to be ex-husband, and have the police put him in prison on the charge of assault and battery.
Let this be a set example to all those that mistreating your spouse is never acceptable in any culture or society, especially ours.

The rising cases of dengue in the Klang Valley begs the question of what exactly is being done by the public and the local councils to help eradicate the mosquitoes.
People will blame the local councils for not clearing up the rubbish. However, the local council, especially where I live, can only be held responsible for their lack of well-placed trash cans on the sidewalks.
Malaysians are litterbugs. A walk around your neighborhood can tell you that much.
Recently as I was taking a night walk, this teenager absent-mindedly took one last sip from his can drink and threw it right into the drain. I reached down into the drain, picked it up and hurled it at him. My aim was a bit off, but I think he got the message.
I pointed out the nearest trash can about 5 feet from where he was. 5 feet!
These irresponsible acts are the very things that cause the diseases that we try to prevent, and if anyone is to be blamed for the rising increase in dengue within the Klang Valley, it is these irresponsible, lazy litterbugs who cannot even find the decency nor effort to walk 5 feet and throw trash into a trash can!

Seeing water levels rising to rooftop levels, people walking around with whatever belongings they have and everyone grouped under one roof in the sophisticated city of Johor Baru is downright heartbreaking, especially with the coming celebrations.
Are these poor families getting the shelter and support they need?
From how quickly the police reacted to the turn of events, I would say it was downright courageous and efficient, especially after the international level blunder of how the American emergency services handled Katrina.
Guess we should be thankful for the police and the army right now.
It is time that the government start raising the importance level of the Environmental Ministry, because from what has recently been going on, there may be shifts in our current climate patterns that may in the future affect the entire country.
