Is Pakatan the answer?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Here's the thing. I love the Pakatan as much as I loved UMNO. Please note the past tense.

However, that love for them is a conditional love. The condition is very simple. Stop PAS from monopolizing the religious authorities and placing them in all the posts connected to religion in itself.

Though I voted for their MP, which I now wonder why after reading his statements in the hansards, I wasn't exactly given a credible choice. It was either the church going MP, or the 70-year-old work virgin MP who UMNO Shah Alam petitioned to be replaced. It was a choice between two bowls of shit.

And sadly, we as a majority here in Shah Alam voted in the green bowl of shit. However, what was really saddening was that this bowl of crap of a parliament member not only sits and stands in Parliament to spew dribble, he actually allowed his supporters to use a surau here in Shah Alam for his congratulatory rally after winning the election in March.

If that wasn't bad enough, his supporters decided that the entire community, regardless of the fully occupied dense residential flats opposite the surau, should listen to it via the surau's speakers full blast.

Perhaps Teresa should have spoken to them to shut their own speakers up first....

Truth be told, I now wonder if Pakatan is the answer, and if PSM does decide to unite with them, it's going to be a sight to behold.

For one thing, I honestly think the socialist belief is not the best answer for the entirety of Malaysia, but it sure as hell is the best answer for areas with the poorest of laborers.

But will Pakatan actually give PSM their fair share of seats, should an election be called?

If we were to base it on the number of members per political party, PAS would definitely get a bigger share in comparison to PKR. If we were to look at this past election's results, PSM only has 1 MP and 1 ADUN, in comparison to when Keadilan first kicked off with 5 MP seats and 4 ADUN seats. If this were to be a measure, would DAP and PAS be willing to give seats to PSM? Would PKR even consider it?

Or will PSM be the PPP of the Pakatan Rakyat?

Also, the very fact that Anwar Ibrahim can form a new government, but would rather prolong the suspense while the country's economy continues to falter, is not an act of a patriot who knows that this could lead to a recession. He should just march up to the gates of Putrajaya, call Pak Lah out, and shove the list in his face and tell him to pack his bags.

And say sorry for waking him up.

" The real danger to our country is not so much from external factors as from internal degeneration which sapped the confidence of the people in their Government"

One could argue that the words above, spoken so long ago by Tun Musa Hitam has finally become the very reason UMNO will be losing it's grasp on power after more than half a century of rule.

But one should ask, how did Tun M hold on to power for 22 years as Prime Minister, be loved by the Arabs for his anti Western rhetoric, use an iron fist to shut down dissent and recently has become one of the loudest critics of the government of a successor which he hand picked?

Was UMNO stronger then?

No. If anything, Tun Dr. M showed that when he ruled with an iron fist, the iron fist was applicable to all, even the Deputy Prime Minister. Anwar Ibrahim could relate to that much.

Was UMNO less racist?

Yes, it was. The fact was back then there wasn't much mention of racial comparison, or threats to other races at all. There were no keris waving, or even the mention of when Najib would bathe the kris with blood.

Recently, the detaining of the reporter who heard a politician call the Chinese population a bunch of immigrants was charged under the ISA, because, according to the police, "her life was under threat".

Perhaps the police would like to use the same approach for that family in Shah Alam, who lost their mother after negotiations failed with the Indonesians holding her hostage in a botched robbery sparked by the firing of her maid who threatened revenge.

What is really interesting to note right now is that the call to abolish or merely review the ISA has been supported by both sides of the political divide at a time when PKR people are chasing down the BBC like it's a game of "Where in The World is Carmen Sandiego".

You have Zaid Ibrahim calling for the release of the detainees, to the point of mentioning his willingness to resign if need be.

You have Bernard Dompok mentioning that these actions have put the government in bad light.

You have Fong Chan Onn saying that though the ISA is still a required law, the reasoning given by Syed Hamid Albar for these arrests, plus the fact that he was not involved, was unacceptable.

Sadly other than Zaid Ibrahim, not a single high level UMNO member has spoken on the issue in a positive manner.

As a nation that most recently used the term "Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan" as it's theme for the Merdeka Day celebration, just what exactly was the purpose of the slogan?

If we were taking the slogan to task, then obviously, judging by the most recent activities, the Opposition, being PKR, PAS and DAP, along with the NGOs, the Bar Council, the NUJ, would definitely be successful in their endeavor for a better government, while UMNO's weak and bungling style of governance has finally reached it's end.

A personal post.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Those who know me well enough know that I seldom post about myself. Most probably because I don't find myself interesting. To tell the truth, I'm perhaps the dullest person you will ever meet or hear about.

I've been smoking a lot since two weeks ago, but since I only smoke on weekends I think I have a license to finish up to four packs in two days. I've stopped drinking for the moment other than a random beer, due to the fact that I usually have to drive myself home, and I actually think of driving home responsibly.

I'm heartbroken, not suicidal. Though I've learned that there are times that both go hand in hand.

So there you have it. That's me for now. Don't exactly know if this will be me in the future, but I know that the future me is a person who will probably find a way to live at least till he's reached his middle age, not having a family of his own, probably living the life of a scrooge.

Who knows. He knows.

Let Him be the one who knows all. Clairvoyance was never my forte'.

"Looking As You Are" by Embrace

I told the Devil and the deep blue sea to hide
I thought that you were after them
I was right
But it's a picture I'll always keep in mind
Where you say I've never been even liked
For anything truly mine

And you did it - looking as you are
Looking as you are

Love enters, and leaves you through your eyes
You threw away the only thing that I like
And ought tell ya, that things will be alright
It never really seems that way, late at night

When you did it looking as you are
Looking as you are

Now I know, that the world's not waiting for you, nor for me
And I know that the world gets heavy, will change?

'Cause you did it looking as you are
looking as you are

Now you're gone, I stand on my own

This is Richard Quest. You may know him if you've watched enough of CNN.

Here's the thing. He's under arrest....

And here's why.....

"CNN TV personality Richard Quest was arrested in New York City's Central Park after curfew in April, with drugs in his pocket and a rope around his neck tied to his genitals, according to a New York Post report . [New York Post, 4-19-08]"

Kinky, Quest. Very kinky....

Isn't it sad that among Forbes' 20 Hottest Young Royals, not a single Malaysian made it...?

What happened to the Malaysia Boleh spirit, people?! *sigh*

People are fuming. Petrol prices up 40%. Diesel up a ringgit. Electricity tariffs up 16%. They removed the ceiling price of chicken from RM6.

And do you know where our leaders are?

On a two day retreat in Shah Alam.

Yes, I'm sure it was very stressful to announce a number of price hikes all at once.

Dude, where's my bus?!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So now that petrol is expensive, let's all look towards our Prime Minister and ask him an extremely viable question that I think all of us Peninsular people especially should ask him.

Prime Minister, where's our "improved" public transport system that you promised during the first hike?

Now that the prices have been brought up yet again, it is time the government ante up on their promise made beforehand.

As far as I know, I'm still experiencing KTM Komuters disappearing without a trace. I'm still a victim of lousy bus schedules.

And oddly enough, I don't see much improvement in the number of trains to cope with the impending influx of the public taking these mass transportation systems.

So please tell us all.

Where's our public transport to cope with all these hikes, which you promised us?

Or shall we take it at face value that after failing to bring transparency to the government, and failing to rid corruption within the government, you are now failing in keeping the promise of a better public transportation system to that list?

If so, I dub thee the lamest Prime Minister in Malaysian history....
